New China Customs Requirements
29 May 2018
The General Administration of Customs China (GACC) has issued Announcement No.56 to adjust the manifest rules of import and export in China. The adjusted rules will be effective from the 1st June 2018.
Shippers and their agents are responsible for data accuracy and completion, any inaccurate or inadequate data will lead to customs process failure, causing delay and may incur penalties by local Chinese authorities.
The following key points will require close attention in future FWB/FHL messaging and documentation:
- Cargo Description must be complete and accurate (As per IATA TACT rule section 6.2).
- The full contact details for the Shipper and Consignee are mandatory, including the enterprise Codes (for New Zealand this is the company registration number).
Please see attached information from Cathay Pacific and examples of messaging in greater detail.
