Traffic Management Plan - Laurence Stevens Drive
Access to GVI Logistics Ltd Auckland (AKL) site is off 7 Laurence Stevens Drive, Auckland Airport, Manukau.
Entry to GVI AKL is via a shared driveway
This shared driveway has a speed limit of 20km/hour as painted on the drive.
This shared driveway operates in both directions
Caution must be taken to watch for traffic exiting the carpark area to the left hand side where the carpark ends.
Office Carpark
- At the end of the driveway staff and small or light visitor vehicles turn right into GVI signed carpark area, GVI Entry #1, which is signposted and has a speed limit of 5km/hour.
- Exiting the carpark in front of the building can be either using GVI Entry #1, or by driving underneath the building.
- Only small, light and low vehicles may use this Exit.
- All trucks and heavy vehicles are to use GVI Entry #2.
Site Rules
- Vehicles delivering or collecting cargo are to use GVI Entry #2 (horse-shoe drive) located just in front of the green hedge. The speed limit is 5km/hour as indicated by speed signs on the grassed areas by the drive.
- GVI Logistics operate a traffic light system as indicated by the traffic light sign.
- White directional arrows and the word "SLOW" are painted on this horse-shoe drive.
- Before entering the concreted yard are at GVI AKL there is a yellow line and a white "STOP" sign painted on the drive along with a traffic light system in operation.
- All vehicles are required to stop on the red light and read the conditions of entry on the "STOP" sign next to the traffic light.
- All drives are required to comply with the conditions of entry to enter the GVI site.
- All drivers are to remain stationary in their vehicle until the traffic light turns green.
- All drivers must follow all traffic and safety instructions given by GVI staff members upon entering the GVI Yard area.
- The speed limit when moving through the GVI AKL yard is 5km/hour.
- All Drivers must remain vigilant and watch out for pedestrians and moving forklifts upon moving through the yard area.
- When the vehicle has stopped at the painted marked truck stop zones, or as instructed by a GVI Logistics staff member, all drivers must carefully and safely move to the warehouse office with their paperwork and make themselves known to a GVI AKL staff member.
- Prior to unloading any vehicle all drivers must complete the arrival check-in process and be inducted onto the GVI AKL site.
- All drivers must take extreme care and be aware of moving forklifts and vehicles.
- Drivers that have unloaded their vehicles are to stand behind the yellow armco barriers pending the signing-off/inwards check of their freight delivery by a GVI staff member.
- Upon receiving in their completed paperwork all drivers must safely enter their vehicles and carefully check for pedestrian, forklift and other vehicle traffic before moving forward.
- Upon exiting the GVI AKL site the speed limit is 5km/hour.
- There is to be NO reversing or Overtaking while moving through the GVI AKL site unless permission is given by a GVI AKL staff member.
- If permission is given to Reverse or Overtake at GVI AKL this is only to take place under the close supervision of a GVI AKL staff member.
- Exiting the GVI AKL site is via the one-way drive onto Laurence Stevens Drive.
- The speed limit remains 5km/hour until turning onto Laurence Stevens Drive.
- White directional arrows are painted on the driveway.
- A yellow "NO ENTRY" sign is painted at the bottom of the Exit drive.
Container Transport Operators Delivering or Collecting Sea Containers
- All Container Drivers must park trucks at the marked designated STOP area at the bottom of the GVI Logistics Drive and read the instructions on the white noticeboard located on the black fence.
- All drivers must report to the store office to receive further instruction from a GVI Logistics Staff Member.
- All drivers must be aware that they are moving through the yard in the opposite direction to other traffic and extra care and vigilance must be taken at all times.
- Container collections and drop-offs must be undertaken using extreme care and caution and under the close supervision of a GVI Logistics staff member.
- Container Drivers must comply with the speed limit of 5km/hour at all times whist moving through the GVI Logistics yard area.
- Hazard warning lights must remain on at all times.
- Container drivers must watch for pedestrians and moving vehicles at all times.
- No swing-lifting of containers from one truck to another truck are to occur in the GVI Logistics yard or driveway areas at any time.
- Container drivers must comply with all Traffic Management instructions given by GVI Logistics staff members at all times.
